Smith Energy is a full-service renewable energy developer.

We bring a customer centric, cooperative approach to working with cities and towns, independent land owners and municipal light districts and electric coops to build solutions appropriate to each community.  We combine creative site selection, use of innovative yet proven technology, turnkey development services, and complete project financing to help move projects from concept to reality.  And we believe that projects with strong community involvement from the beginning are more likely to succeed in moving from concept to reality, thereby having a greater actual impact on the demand for renewable energy.

The three biggest challenges facing renewable energy project development are funding, community acceptance, and implementing the latest technology to increase capacity while reducing environmental and visual impact.  At Smith Energy we have the resources to meet these challenges head on.  Whether you are just starting to consider a project, have one already under development, or have a project that needs additional financing or development resources, Smith Energy can help.

Smith Energy has also started developing the Distributed Energy Resources Information Center (DERIC), a data aggregation Software as a Service platform for improving wide-area situational awareness for regulatory agencies, RTO/ISOs, utilities, and muni/coop's by monitoring real-time distributed renewable energy supply and tracking asset locations.  Access to the DERIC platform allows regulatory agencies, grid managers, and load serving entities to view real-time generation data for hour-ahead and day-ahead planning, to view the impact DG is having in a particular region or load-zone, and to track the growth of DG by resource type for use in long-term planning.  DERIC also enables wind, solar, storage, and related device manufacturers to meet an emerging national Smart Grid standard for data interoperability, reducing the time and cost of custom integration projects with each individual RTO/ISO and/or LSE in each region in which they sell product.
